Iran

Andrew Sullivan links to a Calcutta Telegraph report that claims India voted against Iran in IAEA out of a concern that the Iran's nuclear brinkmanship will provoke war -- which, in turn, would hurt the interests of Indians in the region. Per this report, the vote had nothing to do with the nuclear deal with America.

This is an odd report, to say the least. If, as the report states, Indians bought America's representation on a planned invasion of Iran before 2008, they got duped. Big time.

America does not have the political appetite for further war. Its military is lagging behind on recruiting goals. Its President is reeling from domestic crises. Its budget deficit is now reaching alarming levels. Its people have grown tired of even the valid war in Iraq.

There is, therefore, zero prospect of war on Iran. This much is clear just from open sources -- i.e., newspapers.

If the Prime Minister actually believed otherwise, he needs to immediately fire his US Ambassador and RAW chief.
