Diwali

Amit writes that The best thing about blogging is the friendships it creates. Amen.

A Hindi poet once lamented that even after numerous Diwalis, a dark and evil shroud remains sprawled all around us. We saw this in Delhi Saturday. How else are we to survive this mire if not through expression and friendship?

So, on this blood-dimmed Diwali, here's to blogging and to friends, as well as to our absent innocents who'll never light the lamps again.

Happy Diwali to Everybody. In the south we celebrate today(31st October) as the day Krishna killed Narakasura and removed evil from the earth. The evils of terrorism emanating from Pakistan has one source. Murdike headquarters of Lashkar E Toiba and its various Avatars. I believe if Indian political leadership gathers sufficient courage and gives a go ahead for Indian Airforce to drop 5000 tonnes explosives on Murdike, It will be a signal to Jihadis and their military backers. If Indian Airforce Pilots can beat Yanks in simulated fights they can surely accomplish this task. We have 2 kinds of people in India who oppose this. Usual Leftist Peaceniks who treat democratic pluralistic India with military mulla nexus in Islamabad. Second set is Punabi writers like Kuldip Nayyar, Khushwant Singh who inspite of being refugees of partition have a melodramic attachment to their birthplace. Third is uncle Sam. Operation Parakram in 2001 would have resulted in a war( Not a nuclear war in my opinion but would be a spoke in the wheel for Uncle Sam's plans to invade Iraq. Entirely unjustified in my opinion). If Indian leadership takes courage to take the battle to Murdike by an Airstrike it will be the beginning of end of tide of terrorism directed against India.

Greetings for the festive season and best wishes indeed. This is a time of hope symbolized by the earthen lamps flickering on the darkest night of the year. As we say in Sri Lanka, "Deepavali vazhtukkal urittakuha"!

Happy Diwali everybody. May the light of freedom burn ever brighter. We remember the innocents who aren't with us. We celebrate their lives. And we will not forget.
