PR, I personally think these 'fatwas' don't mean anything and the general public in India, including Muslims, don't care. It's just that in the current geo-political climate, these things stand out and media outlets like The Guardian sieze on it, without understanding the freedoms Muslim women enjoy in India (for heaven's sake, we had the gorgeous Zeenat Aman virtually stripping down!). The idiots may actually be deliberately issuing these for cheap publicity.
