sharon has asked the israeli intelligence to ready a strike against the persian nuke facilities by mid march....see link below.

nukh, guess Israel doesn't need India any more for this one. Amazing how the world will smear Israel for all it's "dirty work" - yet there seems to be almost eager anticipation from several quarters for this attack on Iran.
indeed libertarian, it sickens me too.
especially, when the loony left and people of a certain faith blame everything on israel....literally,everything.
i would even venture that very soon we will be hearing some arab mover-shaker alleging that the farsi fool is a zionist agent....and the worse part is that the majority of arabs and persians will believe that crock.
Namaste,
New to this site..
Ahmedinejad's comments carry no academic value..because the Holocaust is a proven fact*I think he realises that*...but he seems to be playing to the gallery at home. Currently he is facing opposition and his nominees to ministerial posts are being rejected. He needs an issue to divert attention. The Middle East being the pot boiler it is..such is the stuff of normal discourse. I think both parties will use such comments for their own reasons.
The primary concern remains...Can we trust Iran with a Bomb? After Iran what? It was after all..Pakistan that fed it the fantasy...the bigger question remains Pakistan. How will the world decide its fate? For the Indian govt. at least...the Pakistan problem has ceased to exist.
Sanjay
anonymous, welcome. Ahmedinejad is either clueless, or reckless in the extreme, or *gasp* - maybe he IS a "zionist agent"! In all 3 cases, the outcome seems clear: he's painted a big bulls-eye on himself - and unfortunately - a lot of innocent Iranian folks. As for Pak, the "world" is going to do exactly nothing. It's an Indian problem - we can't be waiting for the nebulous "world" to take care of it. Israel's going to show us how it's done. Everyone got their notepad ready?
jaffna, thank you much. Your writing is extremely illuminating. Something coming up soon from this neck of the woods.
cynical nerd, your [blessed & wishful]laundry list can be accomplished in one swoop - and that is by de-nuclearising our neighbor.
cn, nukh, seems like the wishful part is the denuclearising. Rest is almost a corollary. Also feel our regional ambitions should be articulated with more clarity. We need to take responsibility for the area from Afghanistan to Myanmar. I would like to include Iran, but seems like Israel is going to do the needful there. We need to be obsessed with Pak, but in this larger context.
cynical,
from what i understand, the indian defence establishment isn't too concerned about the f-16's or the accompanying accoutrements. and the planes are small potatoes compared to the gains [ strictly in the military sphere] india stands to make in her developing realtions with uncle sam directly or israel tangentially.
btw, was your "thanks" to the american taxpayer - a [cynical] barb aimed at the indian community residing in the states? just curous?
cynical,
u.s. aid goes where u.s interests [of the day] lie.
and most of the times, rightfuly so.
we [india] should learn to deal with it...a good start would be hiring a top notch lobbying firm on k street.
and rewarding [some sort of civillian honor] india inc cheerleaders, such as tom friedman, robert blackwill, etc..
cynical,
a correction.
a friend just informed me that india has hired a top notch lobbying firm.
nukh, agree whole-heartedly with the lobbying deal. Stephen Cohen - big cheerleader for India - remarked that Indians in the US are the lowest contributors to political causes, adjusted for their absurdly high median income. As a result, the 2 million Indians wield miniscule clout compared to the 5 million Jews.
