Watergate scandle had profound political effect in USA. Indian press commented extensivelly.We were amazed that President of USA had to resign for 'Lying to American Public and Congress'.Never heard of in India and still doesnt happen. Mrs. G was in full form after crushing Railway strike and JP movement had just started.Did event in USA leading to resignation of President in August 2004, gave impetus to peoples participation in JP movement which finally ended in imposition of Emergency?
Interesting thought. Although, one might think that Mr. Nixon (who was hardly Mrs. Gandhi's ally, given 1971) being kicked out of office might have strengthened Mrs. G's image as an iron lady.
