This blogger, once an oilfield engineer himself, mourns bitterly our brave oilmen lost today. T S Eliot's eternally brilliant poem Little Gidding comes to mind:
Water and fire shall rot
The marred foundations we forgot,
Of sanctuary and choir.
This is the death of water and fire.

It is gut wrenching to see something like that collapse. Sad
Very unfortunate indeed.
But I don't this was very much unexpected.
ONGC doesn't maintain it's offshore platforms up to standard.
Also it's vessels ("Saagar Suruksha")are usually not maintained properly
Hopefully, once we know what really happened here, ONGC will learn from this and improve safety in the future.
Best regards.
PR,
Just read that "Sagar Suruksha" (the vessel which collided with BHN)sunk.
I smell something fishy, am I getting paranoid.
